SUMMARY:Reaction Diffusion - Python in GH
DESCRIPTION:n this 4 day intermediate level workshop of Python in Rhino Grasshopper you’ll learn the fundamentals of scripting logic\, from strings\, operators\, conditional statements to recursive functions along with classes and how to implement Python scripting for recursive functions into GH components. The workshop is organized in the course of 2 weekends\, in order to allow students to comprehend the information in-between. The course doesn’t require you to know Python but it expects you to have the interest to reach a higher-than-beginner level during the 4 days duration. Rhino and Grasshopper3D knowledge is not required but welcome. \nThe course investigates 2D and 3D patterns that arise from reaction diffusion mathematical models\, utilizing python in grasshopper to control the rules\, densities and concentrations. \n  \nKey Learning Points\n\nDay 1\n\nRhino Python Editor\nGUI\nBeginner Level Functions and Operators\nVariables\nStrings\nFunctions\n\n\nDay 2\n\nLists\, Tuples\, Dictionaries\nConditional Statements\nLoops\nFlow Control\n\n\nDay 3\n\nObject Oriented Programming\nPython in Grasshopper – ghPython component\nData input/output\nlists to trees and vice versa\nClasses\n\n\nDay 4\n\nReaction Diffusion component in ghPython\nDesign scenarios\n\n\n\nMethod of teaching Python\nThe course will be taught through a series of Python components implemented in Grasshopper and their equivalent design outcomes. \nRandom stepper \nKoch Snowflake \nCircles Fitness into boundary curves \nDiagrid Panels \nCushion Panels \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPython Target Audience\nThis course is for designers\, architects\, interior and industrial designers and of course code enthusiasts who want to efficiently learn programming the features of the ghPython component and to acquire the ability of producing custom-based code components in Rhino Grasshopper for recursion requirements and enhanced flexibility. \nPre-requisites\nRequires genuine interest to learn programming and desire for long hours of debugging. Previous experience with Python \, Rhinoceros and Grasshopper interface helpful but not required.\nAll students are advised to bring their own laptop with already installed: \n\nRhino 5.0  https://www.rhino3d.com/download/rhino/5/latest\nGrasshopper  http://www.rhino3d.com/download/grasshopper/1.0/wip\nGH Python component  http://www.food4rhino.com/project/ghpython?etx\n\nIn case you don’t have a Laptop please inform us atleast 1 week ahead of the workshop ! \nLinks – Suggested Reading\nhttp://www.rhino3d.com/download/IronPython/5.0/RhinoPython101 \nhttp://www.karlsims.com/rd.html \nhttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reaction%E2%80%93diffusion_system \nhttps://pmneila.github.io/jsexp/grayscott/
