SUMMARY:Enter The Grid - Rhino Level 1
DESCRIPTION:Enter The Grid – Rhino Level 1\nThis course (Enter The Grid – Rhino L.1) is for anyone new to Rhino 5. Recognized as an official introductory course\, all trainees receive an Official McNeel Rhino level 1 Certificate upon completion. In this training course you will learn to create and edit accurate free form 3d NURBS models. This fast-moving class covers most of Rhino’s functionality\, including the most advanced surfacing commands. You will systematically move through the user interface\, command access\, creation and editing of curves\, surfaces and solids.\nThe course is intensive (16hrs) and spans two consecutive days (10:00 to 18:00). Each trainee receives the official 260 page courseware as part of attending this course. \n \nCase Study\nAt decode™ effective training is achieved via an intriguing goal by contrast of generic exercises. All the Rhino level 1 teaching material will be taught by modeling the Light-cycle and part of the Game-grid from the Movie Tron Legacy\, our models will be inspired from prize-winning designs by Daniel Simon and Joseph Kosinski. In a step by step modeling method\, each student will be guided through the experience of completing a challenging and interesting design project\, and managing to use commands in synergy through various techniques. \n \nExpected Outcomes\nAfter this course (Enter The Grid – Rhino L.1) the student is expected to be able to: \n\nMove comfortably around the Rhino modelling\nIdentify when free form or precision modelling is required\nCreate and edit curves\, surfaces\, and solids\nUse modelling aids for accuracy\nProduce simple renderings of the Rhino models\n\nTarget Audience\nThis course (Enter The Grid – Rhino L.1) is for the design professional who wants to efficiently learn the concepts and features of the Rhinoceros modelling software at an accelerated pace in an instructor-led environment. \nPre-requisites\nRequires Windows skills and desire to model. Previous drafting and modelling experience helpful\nbut not required. If trainees have attempted to work through tutorials on either evaluation\, student\, or commercial version of Rhino\, this will help. \nCurriculum\nAt decode™ effective training is achieved via an intriguing goal by contrast of generic exercises. All the Rhino level 1 teaching material will be taught by modeling the Light-cycle and part of the Game-grid from the Movie Tron Legacy\, our models will be inspired from prize-winning designs by Daniel Simon and Joseph Kosinski. In a step by step modeling way each student will be guided through the experience of completing a challenging and interesting design project\, and managing to use commands in synergy through various techniques\, just like a professional would. Through this case study\, the modeling steps of the following concepts will be covered: \n\nGet acquainted with the Rhino screen and menus\nNavigate around the Rhino model\nCreate 2-D lines\, polylines\, and NURBS curves\nModelling set-up and mode functions: snap\, ortho and planar constraints\nObject snaps and Smart Track\nFast 3-D solids and surfaces\nThe Rhino layering system\n\nPrecision Modelling\n \nUse co-ordinates and constraints to model easily and accurately. Move off the x-y plane and use viewports to establish the current construction plane. Draw polygons and ellipses. Draw free-form curves and compare interpolated and control points curves. \n\nDraw with absolute\, relative rectangular\, and polar co-ordinates\nDistance and angle constraints\nViewports and construction planes\nModel in 3-D space\nElevator mode\nRectangle command and its options\nPoint selection with object snaps\nAnalysis commands: length\, distance\, angle\, radius\nDraw circles and arcs\nDraw ellipses and polygon curves\nModel free-form curves\nCreate helix and spiral curves\n\nFollowed by more on Curves\, Display\, and Editing\n \nDiscover display commands used to view different parts of the model. Use edit commands to produce complex and detailed variations on the curves. Loft and extrude curves into surfaces and solids. \n\nPan\, zoom and reset model views\nEdit curves with fillet and chamfer\nLoft and extrude curves\nGeneral editing: move\, copy\, rotate\, mirror\, scale\nArray polar and rectangular\nBoolean union\, difference\, and intersection\nOffset curves and surfaces\nTrim and split for curves and surfaces\nExtend and extend to surface\n\nIntermediate Edit and Surfacing Commands\n \nLearn additional editing commands and use them to build practice models. Reinforce concepts of model set-up and drawing accurate 2-D geometry to build precision 3-D shapes \n\nIntroduction to NURBS modelling concepts and terminology\nFree-form curves\nControl point editing of curves and surfaces\nRebuild curves and surfaces\nCreate deformable shapes\nCurve creation through projection\nSplit surfaces with curves and surfaces\nBlend between two surfaces\nMake 2D drawings from 3D Objects\n\nAdvanced Surfacing and Solids\nModel with solids and solid text. Use Boolean tools to shape your model. Extrude\, loft\, and revolve curves into surfaces. Use sweeps to create additional surfaces. Use advanced surfacing techniques like blend\, match\, and surface from network of curves. \n\nCreate model primitives and solid text\nModel with pipe and extrude\nModifying solids with Boolean Tools\nSurface properties and UV analysis\nExtrude and loft surfaces\nRevolve curves into surfaces\nSweep 1 and 2 rail curves\nSurface with network of curves\n\nSchedule\n\n\n\nPart 1 – day 1\nTopic: Modeling in Rhino5\n\n\n10:00-11:00\nIntroduction\, Rhino interface\, panning & zooming\n\n\n11:00-12:00\nLayers / Object Properties / Basic design commands\n\n\n12:00-13:00\nRhino geometry types / theory\n\n\n13:00-14:00\nLunch\n\n\n14:00-16:00\nCreating Geometry (designing Game-grid volumes and shapes)\n\n\n16:00-18:00\nModeling with solids\, Extrusions and Boolean operations\, Paneling\, Splitting and joining.\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPart 1 – day 2\nTopic: Modeling in Rhino5\n\n\n10:00-13:00\nSurfacing and model editing\, Control point editing\, Nurb geometry manipulation.\n\n\n13:00-14:00\nLunch\n\n\n14:00-16:00\nModeling practice (Designing the Light-cycle)\n\n\n16:00-18:00\nDetailing and preparing a scene (completing ready-for-render model) Import/export\, setting up named views\, printing wireframes\, viewport customization.\n\n\n\n  \n  \n
